AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

Snap Ring Disassembly Note
Caution
• Depress the spring retainer only enough to remove the snap ring. Overpressing will damage the retainer component edges.
1. Install the SSTs in the clutch drum as shown.
2. Remove the snap ring.
3. Remove the SSTs.
4. Remove the spring retainer.
5. Remove the return spring.

Direct Piston Disassembly Note
1. Assemble the clutch drum to the transaxle case.
Warning
• Using compressed air can cause dirt and other particles to fly out, causing injury to the eyes. Wear protective eye wear whenever using compressed air.
Caution
• Applying compressed air to the assembled clutch pack for longer than 3 seconds at a time will damage the seal. Do not apply compressed air for more than the aforementioned time when testing the system.
Note
• Regarding the position of the hole into which air is blown, refer to item ‘Oil pressure circuit’ in this manual.
2. Remove the direct piston by applying compressed air through the fluid passage.
3. Remove the O-ring from piston.

Assembly Procedure
1. Apply a coat of ATF to new O-rings, then install them to the piston.
2. Apply a coat of ATF to inside of the clutch drum, then install the piston while rotating it by hand.
Note
• After installing the drum, ensure that the piston rotates smoothly by hand. If not, the O-ring may be caught.
3. Install the return spring.
4. Position the spring retainer.

2014 ENGINE Fuel System [MZR 2.5] – Mazda 5
FUEL LINE PRESSURE INSPECTION [MZR 2.5]
1. Complete the “BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION”. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [MZR 2.5].)
2. Remove the battery cover. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5] .)
4. Disconnect the quick release connector. (See QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR REMOVAL /INSTALLATION [MZR 2.5].)
5. Turn the lever of the SST parallel to the hose as shown below.
6. Insert the SST quick release connector into the fuel pipe until a click is heard.
7. Verify that the quick release connector is firmly connected by pulling it by hand.
8. Start the fuel pump using the following procedure.
Using M-MDS
 Connect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZR
2.5] .)
 Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

 Remove the fuel pump relay.

2014 RESTRAINTS Seat Belt – Mazda 2
ADJUSTER ANCHOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
WARNING:  The side air bag sensor is attached to the lower part of the B-pillar. When working around the B-pillar, disconnect the negative battery cable or work carefully, avoiding excessive impact to the lower part of the B-pillar.
1. Switch the ignition to off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
1. Front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
2. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
3. B-pillar lower trim (See B-PILLAR LOWER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
4. Front seat belt upper anchor installation bolt (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
5. B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
4. Remove bolt.
5. Rotate and remove the adjuster anchor as shown below.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Remove the following parts:
1. Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
2. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
3. Rear seat back (See REAR SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
4. Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
2. Remove the rear seat belt lower anchor installation bolt.
3. Remove the trunk side trim. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
4. Remove the C-pillar trim. (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

5. Remove the bolts.
6. Remove the rear seat belt.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

REAR CENTER SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
 (See REAR SEAT BACK FRAME REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
SEAT BELT INSPECTION
BELT
1. Verify that the belt is installed properly with no twists or kinks.
2. Verify that there is no damage to the seat belt and no deformation of the metal fittings.
 If there is any malfunction, replace the seat belt.

METER SYSTEM : System Description
COMBINATION METER
• Speedometer, odo/trip meter, tachometer, fuel gauge, engine coolant temperature gauge, engine oil pressure gauge, voltage gauge and trip computer are controlled by the unified meter control unit, which is built into the combination meter.
• Warning and indicator lamps are controlled by the unified meter control unit and by components connected directly to the combination meter.
• Digital meter is adopted for odo/trip meter*, as well as the A/T position indicator display.
*The record of the odometer is kept even if the battery cable is disconnected. The record of the trip meter is erased when the battery cable is disconnected.
• Odo/trip meter and A/T indicator segments can be checked in diagnosis mode.
• Meter/gauge can be checked in diagnosis mode.
NOTE:
Under the following conditions, the meters will perform a homing function. The meter pointers will move down slightly and then move back to the resting position. This is a normal design condition.
• Approximately 60 seconds after turning the ignition switch from the ON to the OFF position
• If the battery is disconnected and then reconnected
