Cooling-Pack
Introduction
This is a combination pack, which supplies all the necessary cooling functions for the machines components with the exception of the ACU. (Most machines have air conditioning, but it is optional. Its installation or not does not make a difference to the function of the main cooling – pack.)
When viewed from the engine side A, the individual sections of the cooling-pack are:
– 1 Turbo Intercooler.
– 2 Transmission Oil Cooling.
– 3 Engine Coolant Radiator.
– 4 Hydraulic Oil Cooling.
The top and bottom holding-plates B and C hold the cooling-pack sections together.
Remove the section bolts 5 and 6, to remove and replace a single section. K Removal and Installation ( T B-16))

1 Apply the parking brake, put the transmission in neutral, lower the attachment to the ground. Make sure it is flat on the ground. Stop the engine.
2 Look at the fluid level in the plastic tube 14-A. The level should be above the red line on the tube. Later machines feature a sight glass as shown at 14-L. The level should be at, or above the red mark.
3 If necessary, top up with hydraulic fluid, through filler point 13-Z.
!MCAUTION
If the fluid is cloudy, then water or air has contaminated the system. This could damage the hydraulic pump. Contact your JCB Distributor immediately.

Front Axle (4WD)
The 4WD front axle is a centre pivot type. The front wheel drive mechanism is incorporated as a part of the axle.
The front wheel drive power is taken off the rear transmission and transmitted to the differential in the front axle where the power is divided into right and left and to the respective final cases.
In the final cases, the transmitted power is reduced by the bevel gears to drive the front wheels. The 4WD mechanism with bevel gears provides a wider steering angle and greater durability.
