INSTALLATION
Temporarily install the new parts and measure each part of the new parts in accordance with the body dimension diagram. (See the body dimension diagram)
Inspect the fitting of the related parts around the new parts before welding. This affects the appearance of the finish.
After welding, apply the polyurethane foam to the corresponding parts.
After welding, apply body sealer and under-coating to the corresponding parts.
After applying the top coat layer, apply anti-rust agent to the inside of the necked section structural weld spots.

1. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY
2. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEAT ASSY LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 4 seat track covers.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and seat assy.
3. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION ASSY
(a) Pull up the seat cushion, as shown in the illustration.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and seat cushion.
4. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION COVER
(a) Remove the screw and rear seat cushion lock cover.
(b) Remove the 4 clips and rear seat cushion carpet under.
(c) Using a screwdriver, disengage the hooks and seat cushion cover together with the pad.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(d) Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover.
5. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE
NO.1 LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the reclining adjuster release handle.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
6. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER COVER LH
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
7. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER COVER RH
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
8. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEATBACK ASSY
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts.
(c) Disconnect the rear seat reclining control cable.
(d) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the seatback.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
9. REMOVE RECLINING CONNECTING PIPE
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and rear No. 1 seat reclining adjuster LH and RH together with the reclining connecting pipe.
10. REMOVE REAR SEAT BACK BOARD
(a) Remove the 2 rear seat caps.
(b) Remove the bolt and seatback hook.
(c) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the seatback cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(d) Remove the 2 screws and the seatback board, as shown in the illustration.
11. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SEATBACK COVER
(a) Remove the 2 headrest supports.
(b) Remove the hog rings and the seatback cover together with the pad from the seatback spring.
(c) Remove the hog rings and the seatback cover.
12. REMOVE REAR NO.1 SEAT BELT ASSY INNER LH
(a) Remove the nut and belt.

POWER STEERING – POWER STEERING SYSTEM

ON–VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT DRIVE BELT
(a) Visually check the belt for excessive wear, frayed cords, etc.
If any defect is found, replace the drive belt.
HINT: Cracks on the rib side of a belt are considered acceptable. If the missing chunks from the ribs are found on the belt, it should be replaced.
2. BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM
(a) Check the fluid level.
(b) Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with the stands.
(c) Turn the steering wheel.
(1) With the engine stopped, turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.
(d) Lower the vehicle.
(e) Start the engine.
(1) Run the engine at idle for a few minutes.
(f) Turn the steering wheel.
(1) With the engine idling, turn the wheel to right full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds, then turn the wheel to left full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds.
(2) Repeat (1) several times.
(g) Stop the engine.
(h) Check for foaming or emulsification. If the system has to be bled twice specifically because of foaming or emulsification, check for fluid leaks in the system.
(i) Recheck the fluid level.
3. CHECK FLUID LEVEL
(a) Keep the vehicle level.
(b) With the engine stopped, check the fluid level in the oil reservoir. If necessary, add fluid. Fluid: ATF DEXRON II or III
HINT: If the fluidis hot, check that the fluid level is within the HOT LEVEL range on the oil reservoir. If the fluid is cold, check that it is within the COLD LEVEL range.
(c) Start the engine and run it at idle.
(d) Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to boost fluid temperature.
Fluid temperature: 80C (176F)
(e) Check for foaming or emulsification.
If there is foaming or emulsification, bleed the power steering system.
(f) With the engine idling, measure the fluid level in the oil reservoir.

AXLE – FRONT AXLE HUB

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (See page AH-6)
3. REMOVE FRONT DISC
4. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for looseness near the center of the axle hub.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
NOTICE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at right angles to the measurement surface. If looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the bearing.
5. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT
(a) Using a dial indicator, check for runout on the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
NOTICE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at right angles to the measurement surface. If runout exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
6. INSTALL FRONT DISC
7. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (See page AH-11)
8. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1.050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)

REMOVAL
HINT:
• Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
• The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT (See page DS-5)
3. SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH (See page DS-5)
4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assembly LH from the steering knuckle LH.
NOTICE: Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
5. REMOVE FRONT DISC
6. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See page DS-6)
7. SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUBASSEMBLY NO.1 LH (See page DS-6)
8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly LH and the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.
(b) Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly LH from the front axle hub subassembly LH.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts, nuts and steering knuckle LH with the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

SPECIFICATION
1. HOOD
HINT:
Centering bolts are used to mount the hood hinge and hood lock. The hood and hood lock cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts installed. Substitute the centering bolts with standard bolts (with washers) when making adjustments.
(a) Horizontally and vertically adjust the hood.
(1) Loosen the 4 hinge bolts of the hood.
(2) Adjust the clearance between the hood and front fender by moving the hood.
(3) Tighten the 4 hinge bolts after the adjustment.
Torque:
12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft..lbf)
(b) Adjust the height of the front end of the hood using the cushion rubbers.
HINT: Raise or lower the front end of the hood by turning the cushion rubbers.
(c) Adjust the hood lock.
(1) Loosen the 3 bolts.
(2) Tighten the bolts after the adjustment.
Torque:
7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in..lbf)
(3) Check that the striker can engage with the hood lock smoothly.
2. FRONT DOOR
NOTICE:
Before adjusting the door positions of vehicles equipped with side airbags and curtain shield airbags, be sure to disconnect the cable from the negative (–) battery terminal. After
adjustment, inspect the SRS warning light, the side airbag system, and the curtain shield airbag system for normal operation. Then initialize both airbag systems.
HINT:
• Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
• The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
• Centering bolts are used to mount the door hinge to the vehicle body and door. The door cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts installed on it. Substitute the centering bolts with standard bolts (with washers) when making adjustments.
(a) Using SST, loosen the hinge bolts on the vehicle body and adjust the door position.
SST 09812–00010
(b) Tighten the hinge bolts on the vehicle body after the adjustment.
Torque:
26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft..lbf)
(c) Loosen the hinge bolts on the door and adjust the door position.
(d) Tighten the hinge bolts on the door after the adjustment.
Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft..lbf)
(e) Adjust the striker position by slightly
loosening the striker mounting screws with
a “TORX” socket wrench T40 and hitting the striker with a plastic hammer.
(f) Using a “TORX” socket wrench T40, tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.
Torque: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft..lbf)
