EXCERPT:

1. Clean all carbon from the top of the cylinder bores.
2. Place each piston ring (1) in the cylinder bore just below the cylinder ring ridge (2).
3. Use the 8H-8581 Feeler Gauge (3) to measure piston ring end gap. Refer to Specifications, “Piston and Rings” for the dimensions.
Note: The coil spring must be removed from the oil control ring before the gap of the oil control ring is measured.

Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
1. Position refrigerant compressor (2) and install bolts (1) and (4).
2. Connect harness assembly (3) .
3. Position hose assemblies (5) and install bolt (6).
4. Install the belt for the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Belts – Inspect/Adjust/Replace”.
5. Charge the air conditioner system. Refer to Service Manual, SENR5664, “Air Conditioning and Heating Systems with R-134a Refrigerant”. Refer to Special Publication, NEDG5065, “Air Conditioning Tools”.
