3.0 Adhesive application
 Processing temperature of glue cartridge 18 °C – 30 °C.
 Object temperature, vehicle and new parts, min. 15°C.
 After applying the adhesive, check whether an adhesive component has emerged at the back of the glue cartridge. If yes, break off the bonding procedure. Clean new part. Use new glue cartridge. Contact
national hotline.
 Join components and secure in position.
 Remove excess adhesive. Do not use solvent cleaning agents.
4.0 Hardening times
 Refer to NOTES REGARDING ADHESIVE K1
5.0 Subsequent treatment of bonding surfaces
 Protect the repair area with cavity sealant.
41 00… CARRYING OVER HOLE PATTERN
When replacing a body component, it is necessary to carry over the hole pattern from the existing body to the new component.
The following pictures are a schematic representation of carrying over the hole pattern on the example of the front wheel arch.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Adjust new part to fit with straightening attachment.
Insert paper stencil (1) between new component (2) and engine carrier and secure with adhesive tape (3).
Carry over contour (4) of new component to stencil.

BRAKES Brakes – Repair
Install new sealing ring.
Installation note:
Apply a light coat of ANTI-SQUEAK/CORROSION PASTE to cylinder bore, piston and sealing ring.

Fit dust boot (1) in annular groove of piston (2).
Press piston into cylinder bore.
Evenly press dust boot (1) onto brake caliper housing (3) to the limit position.

Installation note:
The area between the dust boot and the brake caliper housing (3) must be kept dry. It must not come into contact with brake cylinder paste or brake fluid so as to ensure that the dust boot is perfectly fitted.

VIBRATION DAMPER
11 23 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING VIBRATION DAMPER (N62)
Remove alternator drive belt. Refer to 11 28 010 Replacing alternator drive belt (N62).
Remove A/C compressor drive belt. Refer to 11 28 050 Replacing A/C compressor drive belt with belt tensioner (N62).
Remove fan cowl. Refer to 17 11 031 REPLACING FAN COWL (N62) .
Release bolts and remove vibration damper (1).

Installation:
Vibration damper is secured on hub with an alignment pin (4).

Installation:
Fit bore (2) in vibration damper (1) on alignment pin in hub.

Fit washer (3).
Replace screws.
Tightening torque 11 23 3AZ. Refer to ENGINE – TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Necessary preliminary tasks:
 Remove design cover
 Remove fan clutch (E65). Refer to 11 52 020 Removing and installing or replacing fan clutch (N62).
 Remove fan cowl (E65). Refer to 17 11 031 REPLACING FAN COWL (N62) .
 Remove drive belt for alternator. Refer to 11 28 010 Replacing alternator drive belt (N62).
 Remove drive belt for A/C compressor. Refer to 11 28 050 Replacing A/C compressor drive belt with belt tensioner (N62).
 Remove front engine under-guard
 Remove tensioner from A/C compressor drive belt (E65)
 Remove vibration damper. Refer to 11 23 010 Removing and installing/replacing vibration damper
(N62).
Screw special tool 11 9 451 in conjunction with special tool 11 9 452 to vibration damper hub and to oil sump.

Release central bolt (1).
Remove special tools.
Remove hub for vibration damper.
Installation:
Check vibration damper hub and radial seal, replace if necessary.
Align groove in vibration damper hub to parallel key and install vibration damper hub.
Replace central bolt (1).
Tighten down central bolt (1) to joining torque.

Turn over engine once.
CAUTION: Do not turn the engine back. Secure crankshaft with special tool 11 2 300 in TDC position of first cylinder.
Remove special tool 11 2 300 before switching on the engine.

Remove LEFT OXYGEN MONITOR SENSOR (N62 / N62TU) .
E60/E63/E64, N62 only:
Remove rear underbody protection.
Remove LEFT OXYGEN MONITOR SENSOR (N62 only).

Unfasten nut.
Remove cable (1).
Installation:
Adjusting cable:
 Release nut
 Adjust cable by means of holder (2)
Distance A > or = 1 mm.

Grip clamping sleeve (1) and slacken nut (2).
Tightening torque 25 16 2AZ .
Detach retainer (3) towards bottom using a screwdriver.
Pull cable (4) out of holder.
Installation:
ADJUST SELECTOR LEVER.

Release shift cable head (2) from ball head.
Installation:
Adjust selector lever.

This pulls the shaft seal out of the transmission housing.
