2.4 Sensor Inspection
2.4.1 Oil pressure switch
Disconnect the connector from the oil pressure switch.
Keep the voltammeter probes in contact with the switch terminal and cylinder block while operating the engine. It is abnormal if circuit is closed.
2.4.2 Thermo switch
Place the thermo switch in a container filled with antifreeze or oil. Heat it while measuring the fluid temperature. The switch is normal if the voltammeter shows continuity when the fluid temperature is 107 113 deg C.

DESCRIPTION
The function of the air compressor is to provide and maintain air under pressure to operate devices in the air brake and/or auxiliary air systems. The Tu-Flo 550 compressor is a two-cylinder, single-stage, reciprocating compressor with a rated displacement of 13.2 cubic feet per minute at 1250 RPM. The 750 is similar, with a displacement of 16.5 cubic feet per minute at 1250 RPM.

The compressor assembly consists of two major subassemblies ( Figure 1 ): the cylinder head and the crankcase. The cylinder head is an iron casting which houses the inlet, discharge, and unloader valving ( Figure 2 ). The cylinder head contains the air inlet port and is designed with both top and side air discharge ports. Three water coolant ports provide a choice of coolant line connections. Governor mounting surfaces are provided at both the front and the rear of the cylinder head. The head is mounted on the crankcase and is secured by six capscrews. The Tu Flo-550 and 750 compressors are designed so that the cylinder head can be installed in one of two positions which are 180 degrees apart ( Figure 3 ). The crankcase houses the cylinder bores, pistons, crankshaft and main bearings, and provides the flange or base mounting surface ( Figure 4 ).

Troubles which occur when solenoid power supply of governor and pump controller is
defective
~ The solenoid power supply (FB1-2) of the governor and pump controller is used by the controller to drive the solenoids and relays.
~ Accordingly, if the solenoid power supply is turned off, when the controller outputs the power to the solenoids or relays, the power is not supplied to any of the solenoids and relays and all or some of the following error codes are displayed simultaneously.
• [E213]: Disconnection in swing holding brake solenoid
• [E215]: Disconnection in 2-stage relief solenoid
• [E216]: Disconnection in travel speed shifting solenoid
• [E222]: Disconnection in LS-EPC solenoid
• [E223]: Disconnection in PC-EPC solenoid
~ If the above problems occur, check the related fuse (FB1-2) and inlet voltage of the governor and pump controller.
1) Disconnect connector C03 of the controller and connect a T-adapter to the wiring harness side.
2) Turn the starting switch ON.
3) Measure the voltage between each of pins (2) and (12) and each of pins (31), (32), and (33).
• Pins (2) and (3) are the power supply pins and pins (31), (32), and (33) are the ground pins.
• Pins (2) and (3) are the power supply and pins (31), (32), and (33) are the chassis ground.
• If the voltage is 20 – 30 V, it is normal.

FUNCTION
When the OLSS mode is set to H mode, the discharge flow from the pump is controlled to the optimum by the command current from the controllerto match the change in the engine speed.
In S mode or L mode, and when the prolix switch is ON, the pump discharge flow is controlled to match the pump discharge pressure (load) by hydraulic sensing in accordance with a constant pump absorption torque.

OPERATION
Because of the command current sent from the controller, solenoid push pin (10) moves, and piston (2) also moves. When this happens, it stops at a point where the sum of the force of spring (1) and the force of push pin (10) and the force of TVC output pressure Pe acting on piston (3) is in balance. At this point, the command current is small, so piston (2) is balanced at the bottom.
As a result, ports a and b are both almost completely open, and almost all the pressure oil from the charging pump output as TVC output pressure Pe.
For this reason, the pump discharge volume becomes the maximum.
