REMOVAL
NOTE:
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

While the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, even if only brake pads are to be removed and installed, be sure to perform the Disable Brake Control procedure and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the auxiliary battery before beginning work.
HINT:

Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

The following procedure is for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System)
NOTE: After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT . Refer to REMOVAL – Step 2
3. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL . Refer to REMOVAL – Step 3
4. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
5. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
6. SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE
a. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and separate the front flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder assembly.

7. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
a. Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin, and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly.

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2013 – ]
1. CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
b. Start the engine.
c. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
If the result is not as specified, replace the oil pressure switch assembly.
d. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

1. DO NOT HANDLE REFRIGERANT IN AN ENCLOSED
AREA OR NEAR AN OPEN FLAME
2. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION
3. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET LIQUID REFRIGERANT IN YOUR EYES OR ON YOUR SKIN
If liquid refrigerant gets in your eyes or on your skin.
(a) Wash the area with lots of cool water.
CAUTION: Do not rub your eyes or skin.
(b) Apply clean petroleum jelly to the skin.
(c) Go immediately to a physician or hospital for professional treatment.
4. NEVER HEAT CONTAINER OR EXPOSE IT TO NAKED FLAME
5. BE CAREFUL NOT TO DROP CONTAINER AND NOT TO APPLY PHYSICAL SHOCKS TO IT
6. DO NOT OPERATE COMPRESSOR WITHOUT ENOUGH REFRIGERANT IN REFRIGERANT SYSTEM
If there is not enough refrigerant in the refrigerant system oil lubrication will be insufficient and compressor burnout may occur, so take care to avoid this, necessary care should be taken.
7. DO NOT OPEN HIGH PRESSURE MANIFOLD VALVE WHILE COMPRESSOR IS OPERATING
If the high pressure valves opened, refrigerant flows in the reverse direction and could cause the charging cylinder to rupture, so open and close the only low pressure valve.
8. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERCHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT
If refrigerant is overcharged, it causes problems such as insufficient cooling, poor fuel economy, engine overheating etc.

OVERHAUL
1. REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN HOLE (ATM) COVER SUB-ASSY
(a) Remove the bolt and speedometer driven hole cover sub-assy from the transaxle assy.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the speedometer driven hole cover.
2. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
(a) Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever.
(b) Using a screwdriver, unstake the nut stopper, and remove the lock nut and stopper.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the park/neutral position switch.
3. REMOVE BREATHER PLUG HOSE
4. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE UNION(INLET OIL COOLER UNION)
(a) Remove the union.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the union.
5. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE UNION(OUTLET OIL COOLER UNION)
(a) Remove the elbow.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the elbow.
6. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR(TMC -MADE)
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 speed sensors from the transaxle assy.
(b) Remove the 2 O-rings from the 2 sensors.
7. REMOVE SPEED SENSOR(AISIN -MADE)
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 speed sensors from the transaxle assy.
(b) Remove the 2 O-rings from the 2 sensors.
8. REMOVE PLUG, W/HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW
(a) Remove the 4 transaxle case No. 1 plugs from the transaxle case.
(b) Remove the 4 O-rings from the 4 transaxle case No. 1 plugs.

1. DRAIN COOLANT (for Engine)
WARNING: Do not remove the reserve tank cap or radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
a. Remove the 2 clips.
b. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the center No. 4 engine under cover.
c. Connect a hose with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the radiator drain cock as shown in the illustration.
d. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.
e. Remove the reserve tank cap. Then drain the coolant.
HINT: Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.
f. Disconnect the hose from the radiator drain cock.
2. ADD COOLANT (for Engine)
a. Tighten the radiator drain cock plug by hand.
b. Add coolant to the B line of the radiator reserve tank assembly.
